With the establishment of the eCentre in 2000, an Advisory Board was convened to oversee the Centre’s activities. Advisory Board members who met for annual consultations included representatives of the following organizations:
- Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan
- PARinAC Japan
- The Coordinator of the Asia-Pacific Consultations (APC)
- The University of Wisconsin - Disaster Management Center (UW-DMC)
- UNHCR Regional Bureau for Asia and the Pacific
- UNHCR Emergency and Security Service
- UNHCR Representation in Japan
Today, oversight of the eCentre’s programme of activities is provided by a Steering Committee that convenes periodically to guide programme orientation, endorse training plans, review and evaluate implementation progress and recommend modifications. The Steering Committee consists of the following members:
- Mr. Amin Awad, Director, UNHCR Division of Emergency, Security and Supply
- Mr. Kasidis Rochanakorn, Director, UNHCR Regional Bureau for Asia and the Pacific
- Mr. Johan Cels, UNHCR Representative in Japan
In addition, the eCentre develops its annual programme of activities in close consultation with the Japan International Cooperation Agency, which partners with the eCentre in the delivery of several events.
Finally, the eCentre Coordinator acts as an ex-officio member of the Steering Committee, preparing agendas and providing advice and other support (see eCentre Secretariat). |
