The Regional Centre for Emergency Training in International Humanitarian Response, or eCentre, was established by UNHCR in Tokyo in 2000. The mission of the eCentre is to improve the capacity of government, non-governmental and UN partners in the Asia-Pacific region to prepare for and respond to humanitarian emergencies, with emphasis on issues of forced displacement. The eCentre's activities include organizing and delivering training, preparing and disseminating technical information on emergency preparedness and response, and creating and maintaining a network of organizations and individuals in the region who are involved in humanitarian issues. The eCentre is funded by UNHCR, Japan Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID).  Additionally, the eCentre partners with the the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), which collaborates with and supports the eCentre in the delivery of specific programmes.
