This training aims to put “a human face” on the refugee protection and overcome the common phenomenon of treating the displacement in gross numbers only without considering the sub-group characteristics of the refugees. Protection in Practice-I & II
These are the materials of training on “Protection in Practice”. This training aims to;
- Discuss practical aspects of applying the principles of protection,
- Understand how the laws work under different circumstances based on problems facing the refugees,
- Discuss the need for all staff to be able to identify protection issues and be aware of when to notify a protection officer, and
- Be able to refer to appropriate guidelines and information sources for protection.

- Understand the implications of international protection and the responsibilities associated with it,
- Be familiar with the international and national laws and instruments guiding the protection of refugees,
- Be better able to translate these laws into practical protection action, and
- Understand the different viewpoints influencing the protection of refugees and IDPs.
