conflicts. CARE's rehabilitation programs include landmine removal and

The International Emergency and Refugee Health Branch (IECD) Program
serves the international community as a technical resource in international
public health and epidemiology and has supplied short-term consultations to
international relief organizations working in emergencies.

education and experience in the public health and epidemiological aspects
of international emergencies for a cohort of junior and mid-level
professional CDC staff. Website offers program information

The Centre for Research on the
Epidemiology of Disasters (CRED)

The main
focus of the Centre is on safeguards, public health and the sanitation
aspects of disaster. CRED also studies the socio-economic and
long-term effects of these large-scale disasters. CRED's activities
cover applied research, the development of management tools, logistics and
training.

EM-DAT: The main objective of the OFDA/CRED International
Disaster Database is to serve the purposes of humanitarian action at
national and international levels. It is an initiative aimed to rationalize
decision making for disaster preparedness, as well as providing an
objective base for vulnerability assessment and priority setting.
