The New Zealand Digital Library project is a research programme
at The University of Waikato whose aim is to develop the underlying
technology for digital libraries and make it available publicly

The Overseas Development Institute is a leading
independent think-tank on international development and humanitarian
issues in Britain.
Website provides access to information about the
Institute, research
and policy programs, and publications.
Many subjects covered including human rights, staff security,
education, health and nutrition, and management. The site
is searchable and maintains a good links directory. The Humanitarian Policy Group
(HPG) (located on home page) concerns policy and practice
in the response to conflict, instability, disasters and associated
humanitarian needs. HPG offers access to the pages below as well

Disasters is a major, peer-reviewed quarterly journal reporting
on all aspects of disaster studies, policy and management. The
journal maintains a balance between academic papers, field reports
from relief workers, case studies, and articles of general interest.
It also contains book reviews. Online access is available
to members.

Refugee Studies Centre

The Refugee Studies Centre (RSC) is part of the
University of Oxford's International Development Centre at Queen
Elizabeth House. Its objectives are to carry out multidisciplinary
research and teaching on the causes and consequences of forced
migration; to disseminate the results of that research to policy
makers and practitioners, as well as within the academic community;
and to understand the experience of forced migration from the
point of view of the affected populations.

Newsletter are available on the web. Topics have included children
and youth, role of military in humanitarian work, education and

1979 with the objective of providing early warning in cases of
mass migration.
The web site provides information on refugees and
refugee issues. Issues can be found on the top tool bar
and includes: early warning, emergency relief, protection, refugee
women's issues, internally displaced persons, and building local
capacity. Information can also be viewed by country. Access

timely information on humanitarian emergencies and natural disasters
designed specifically to help the humanitarian community

information. Large Directory of Humanitarian
agencies provides contact information and websites for UN
agencies, Governmental organizations, NGOs, academic and resource
organizations. Library
provides
an online archive of humanitarian, human rights and development
reference documents related to crisis situations and humanitarian

Assistance Training Inventory contains information on training
activities and manuals of many different organizations.
Search by organization, date, country, or keyword. Keywords
include refugee, emergency management, shelter/site planning,
logistics, early warning, and coordination. Links to other

Community Information Center (HCIC) promotes and facilitates coordination
by serving as an information focal point for local and international
NGOs, UN and other inter-governmental agencies, donors and KFOR
for Kosovo relief operations. Their website offers information
on a variety of topics related to the Kosovar effort including
access to their GIS/Map and Data coordination
unit, which provides information on pcodes, GIS and other
map technologies.

for the provision of emergency telecommunications during relief
