International is a worldwide movement that works to promote all the human
rights enshrined in the "Universal Declaration of Human Rights"
and other international standards. In particular, Amnesty International
campaigns to free all prisoners of conscience; ensure fair and prompt
trials for political prisoners; abolish the death penalty, torture and
other cruel treatment of prisoners; end political killings and
"disappearances"; and oppose human rights abuses by opposition
groups.

Asian Forum for
Human Rights and Development

was launched in December 1991, to facilitate collaboration among human
rights organizations in Asia so as to develop a regional response for the
promotion of human rights and democracy in the region.

The AHRC
is an independent, non-governmental body, which seeks to promote greater
awareness and realization of human rights in the Asian region, and to
mobilize Asian and international public opinion to obtain relief and
redress for the victims of human rights violations.

contains information about the Commission, appeals,
annual program reports, the "Asian
Human Rights Charter", and AHRC publications
(including monthly newsletter: Human
Rights Solidarity). Some of the information is available in
Chinese including the Charter. The Commission often reports on refugee
rights, and looks into legal assistance for human rights abuses. Use
