Refugee Studies Centre

The Refugee Studies Centre (RSC) is part of the University of Oxford's International Development Centre at Queen Elizabeth House. Its objectives are to carry out multidisciplinary research and teaching on the causes and consequences of forced migration; to disseminate the results of that research to policy makers and practitioners, as well as within the academic community; and to understand the experience of forced migration from the point of view of the affected populations.

Web site includes information on courses, workshops, conferences, and access to a list of purchasable publications (Forced Migration Review, Journal of Refugee Studies, working papers). Some current articles are available on the website. Library includes material on such topics as psycho-social issues, human rights, international law, relief administration, education, health and nutrition. Currently developing a Digital library.

Articles, research abstracts, conference reports and news items, present practice-oriented findings and analyse policy issues. Articles from FMR and its predecessor the Refugee Participation Network Newsletter are available on the web. Topics have included children and youth, role of military in humanitarian work, education and training, and reproductive health. Also find information on news, events, and links.

Based in Washington, D.C., RI was founded in 1979 with the objective of providing early warning in cases of mass migration.

The web site provides information on refugees and refugee issues. Issues can be found on the top tool bar and includes: early warning, emergency relief, protection, refugee women's issues, internally displaced persons, and building local capacity. Information can also be viewed by country. Access to RI articles and Bulletin (by country) is also available on the left side of the home page.

ReliefWeb is an electronic clearinghouse for those needing timely information on humanitarian emergencies and natural disasters – designed specifically to help the humanitarian community improve its response to emergencies.

Searchable website offers daily updates on complex emergencies and natural disasters, and has extensive country background information. Large Directory of Humanitarian agencies provides contact information and websites for UN agencies, Governmental organizations, NGOs, academic and resource organizations. Library provides an online archive of humanitarian, human rights and development reference documents related to crisis situations and humanitarian response.

Search by organization, date, country, or keyword. Keywords include refugee, emergency management, shelter/site planning, logistics, early warning, and coordination. Their website offers information on a variety of topics related to the Kosovar effort including access to their GIS/Map and Data coordination unit, which provides information on pcodes, GIS and other map technologies.
