The AHRC is an
independent, non-governmental body, which seeks to promote greater
awareness and realization of human rights in the Asian region, and to
mobilize Asian and international public opinion to obtain relief and
redress for the victims of human rights violations.

reports, the “Asian Human Rights Charter”, and AHRC publications
(including monthly newsletter: Human
Rights Solidarity). Some of the information is available in
Chinese including the Charter. The Commission often reports on refugee
rights, and looks into legal assistance for human rights abuses. Use

Institution Project on Internal Displacement seeks to improve the
international community's response to the global crisis of internal
displacement.
Website includes
notification of upcoming conventions, articles and papers, and UN reports, regarding protection and other issues of
internally displaced persons.

The Centre for Research on the Epidemiology of Disasters
(CRED)

The main focus of
the Centre is on safeguards, public health and the sanitation aspects of
disaster. CRED also studies the socio-economic and long-term effects
of these large-scale disasters. CRED's activities cover applied
research, the development of management tools, logistics and training.
Website includes
information about CRED, brief summaries of current projects,
information about courses, and access to a list of orderable publications
and online
publications. Publications are available in English, French,
or Spanish and cover a variety of emergency and health issues.

objective of the OFDA/CRED International Disaster Databaseis
to serve the purposes of humanitarian action at national and international
levels. It is an initiative aimed to rationalize decision making for
disaster preparedness, as well as providing an objective base for
vulnerability assessment and priority setting.

Databases contains essential core data on the occurrence and
effects of over 12,000 mass disasters in the world from 1900 to
present. Submit your email address for future updates and click
on continue to download databases in zip format. Check out Glossary
for definitions of terms common to disaster information and Guidelines,
which helps explain the information and format of the database.
- Summary
Data contains various statistical reports, figures and tables,
highlighting various aspects of disasters. Disaster
Profiles is currently limited to natural disasters but is set to
include conflict related material in the future. Search
Engine and Emergency Documentation are currently in development and
unusable. Links page offers access to UN agencies and
various other organizations working in disaster relief.

FEWS Project

The objective of
FEWS NET is to help establish more effective, sustainable, and African-led
food security and response planning networks that reduce the vulnerability
of at-risk groups.
Website includes
reports and updates on food and weather
situations in Africa. Technical reports online include agronomic information,
commodity
prices, and food aid evaluations. FEWS uses the above to analyze
vulnerability in the region. Information on approach, guidelines,
and current assessments
of vulnerability analysis are available. A full list of FEWS publications
(English and French) including special reports and a bulletin are also
available. Links offers list of websites that work with early
warning, food security, and humanitarian relief.

The Global Information Networks in Education (GINIE)

GINIE is a resource
to help provide governments, donor and relief organizations with on-line
information, both current and historical, on crisis- and change-oriented
educational services and materials.
The website provides information
about GINIE, how the website works, and provides discussion forum
for members. Home page provides links to featured related
links. Search engine is currently inoperable, but should be useful in
the future.
