The mission of The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) directs and coordinates the international relief activities conducted by the Movement in situations of conflict. It also endeavors to prevent suffering by promoting and strengthening humanitarian law and universal humanitarian principles.

IOM provides migrants with secure, reliable, cost-effective services including: counseling, document processing, medical examination, transportation, language training and cultural orientation and integration assistance. They also provide emergency assistance to persons affected by conflict and post-conflict situations.

Website contains information on organization, activities, publications, and through Migration Web links to Internet sources pertaining to migration. Use “quick links” to access specific areas in website.  Search engine provides both IOM documents and Internet links from their database that match your search.

The central role of UNICEF in emergencies is to act as an advocate for children. The organization believes that humanitarian interventions should be integrated with ongoing programs directed toward children and therefore focuses its assistance on such interventions as health, nutrition, immunization, education, water and sanitation.

http://www.unicef.org/action/ UNICEF in Action provides information about programs and activities.  On the left side tool bar several points of interest are emergencies, research and evaluation, and supply.  Research and evaluation offers information about UNICEF’s division of Evaluation, Policy, and Planning, and its activities.  Supply offers catalogue of products UNICEF can supply to registered procurement customers, information on how to become registered, and more general information on these activities.

United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)

UNDP is the United Nations' principal provider of development advice, advocacy and grant support. In addition to coordinating international humanitarian assistance in crisis situations, UNDP provides a bridge between emergency relief and long-term economic development. In societies wracked by conflict, UNDP supports national and regional reconciliation; greater participation by women in peace-building and democratization; reintegration of refugees and displaced persons; reconstruction of war-torn communities; and demobilization and reintegration of former soldiers into civil society.

Searchable Website offers information about organization, mission, programs, and activities.  Access to country office websites.  Publications are available either online or can be ordered.  Press releases and annual reports are available online.  Human Development reports, which assess people’s well being by country, are also available as are occasional papers.

OCHA has the mandate to coordinate UN assistance in humanitarian crises that go beyond the capacity and mandate of any single humanitarian agency.

Website contains information on agency and its activities.  Links to News includes  Latest Reports and Publications, which lists manuals, directories, handbooks, and other OCHA publications on disaster management, protection, coordination, complex emergencies, and internal displacement.  Humanitarian Assistance Training Inventory offers access to a large database of UN and NGO training information and materials, and it also offers links to other training databases.  Link to ReliefWeb is also available (see description under News).
